ISA represents Surveying and Land Information
professionals in Australia. Its members work in all fields of Land
& Hydrographic Surveying, as well as the management of Land
Information and Land Development. (ASCO Codes 2123-13 Surveyor and
3121-15 Surveying and Cartographic Associate; as per the Department
of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs’ publication General
Skilled Migration ).
In Australia, Quantity Surveying, Valuation or
General Practice Surveying and Building Surveying are assessed by
other bodies.
ISA assesses overseas qualifications for the
Australian Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs.
Assessments are made in terms of membership grades:
- Associate:
-
must hold a Diploma in a discipline of Surveying
approved by the Institution, or its equivalent
- or demonstrate experience and knowledge of
surveying not less than a holder of a Diploma.

Graduate
-
Must hold a Bachelor Degree or equivalent in a
discipline of Surveying approved by the Institution.
- Assessment is based on information provided and
educational profiles to determine the equivalence of overseas
courses, as well as an examination of the applicant’s experience
and responsibilities.

All requested information must be supplied where
possible. An $AU300 processing fee must accompany the application.
Applications will generally be processed within a
month of receipt, unless more information is needed. Applicants will
be informed in writing, based on information provided to the ISA, if
they are eligible to join, and at what grade.
The Institution only assesses an applicant’s
qualifications and experience. It does not assess or recommend on
migration applications.
