Setting Up Your Email Accounts

The following section explains how to setup your email client to download mail from your CanberraNet.  Instructions are given for Outlook Express and Netscape Communicator.

Outlook Express

  1. Open Outlook Express
  2. Go to Tools menu and choose Accounts
  3. Select the Mail tab and the Add button. The Setup Wizard will appear.
  4. Follow the instructions in the Wizard until finished.
  5. Your incoming mail server (POP3) is: mail.yourdomain.xxx
    Your username and password
    As provided to you by WebSite.com.
    Your outgoing (SMTP) mail server
    Provided by your access ISP.
  6. Repeat above steps to create multiple e-mail accounts in Outlook Express

Netscape Communicator Mail

  1. Open Netscape Communicator
  2. Go to Edit menu and choose Preferences
  3. Click on Mail and Groups and the + sign adjacent to it
  4. Click on Identity and enter your name and mail address
  5. Click on Mail Server and enter the following:
    Your incoming mail server (POP3) is: mail.yourdomain.xxx
    Your outgoing (SMTP) mail server
    Provided by your access ISP.
    Choose the POP3 radio button under Mail Server Type
  6. Click OK

General Configuration Tips

When configuring your mail client, you need to at least provide the following information:

POP3/Incoming mail server: mail.yourdomain.xxx
Username and password: As provided by CanberraNet
SMTP/Outgoing mail server: provided by your access ISP
